RGF's second-quarter outreach project took place from Saturday, 27 June to Wednesday, 1 July 2026, and was dedicated to providing much-needed cost-of-living relief to widows facing financial hardship.
Through the Purple Heart Project, we seek to ease the economic burden on widows who are working hard to support themselves despite rising living costs. Many of the beneficiaries rely solely on the modest income from small businesses, with little or no additional financial support.
Eleven widows from different states across the country were identified through trusted referrals. To ensure transparency and responsible stewardship of our resources, our volunteers contacted each beneficiary to verify their identity and circumstances before assistance was provided.
Following the verification process, each widow received a grant of ₦50,000 via direct bank transfer to help meet immediate household and business needs.
The project was a resounding success. We received heartfelt messages of gratitude and surprise from the beneficiaries, many of whom expressed how timely the support was. We were also encouraged by the positive feedback from those who referred the widows, reaffirming the importance of community collaboration in reaching those most in need.
At RGF, we're committed to providing practical support and empowering vulnerable members of our communities, one project at a time.
